Krannert Center Student Association
Administrative Board Application
Thank you for your interest in applying for a position on the Krannert Center Student Association’s Administrative Board! We hope that this information sheet will answer many of your questions. However if there is anything else you would like to know, please feel free to contact any of the Administrative Board members. Our contact information, as well as lots of other information, can be found on the KCSA website at http://www.kcsa.uiuc.edu.

Who The KCSA Administrative Board Is

The KCSA Administrative Board consists of people who plan events, organize committees, and lead the various activities for the Krannert Center Student Association. We have had members who are students ranging from freshmen to graduate students, from all majors including engineering, sciences, liberal arts, business, and fine arts. We all share the common vision of a love for the performing arts and a passion to bring the arts to the students of the University and the community members of Champaign-Urbana.

What You Will Get From Being An AdBoard Member

As an Administrative Board member you will have opportunities to improve and develop leadership skills, to gain experience working among a diverse group of people with differing view points, and to become more involved in one of the largest and most rewarding organizations on campus. You will be instrumental in broadening the experiences of the KCSA general members and you will learn skills that will help you for the rest of your life. You will meet many of the Krannert staff and will have the opportunity to work with them directly. Also, in appreciation of all the hard work that Administrative Board members put in, you will be entitled to complimentary tickets for life for shows at Krannert.

What Our Involvement Is

Administrative Board members are expected to hold one office hour each week, attend weekly or bi-weekly departmental meetings with the other Directors of the department, attend AdBoard meetings twice a month, usher a minimum of three shows each semester and give at least one tour, and to hold any necessary committee meetings. You will also be expected to participate in major KCSA events and to assist and support the other departments in accomplishing their goals. If you are concerned about what exactly is expected of you, please e-mail the directors of the department(s) to which you are applying and ask them about their responsibilities. The time commitment is considerable, but we are all students and we know that academics come first. Most Administrative Board members do not have a problem keeping up with schoolwork and KCSA obligations. In fact, we find it to be one of the most rewarding experiences of our college careers, and we love having the opportunities to participate in so much of what Krannert and KCSA do.
Application Procedures

The process consists of two steps: an application and an interview. The application will be filled out and returned to the KCSA President, and all applicants will be scheduled for an interview with the current KCSA Administrative Board.

What We Are Looking For
The only requirement to apply is that you must be a registered KCSA member. For more information on becoming a registered member and requirements for being a member, please visit our web site at http://www.kcsa.uiuc.edu. When you apply, we are also looking for certain qualities in potential Administrative Board members. These include, but are not limited to:
• Love of the performing arts and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
• Strong motivation to do their very best
• Awareness and sensitivity when working with a diverse group of people
• Passion for learning and new experiences
• Conscientious, hard-working, and responsible
• Positive attitude and ability to work through difficult situations
We are aware that not everyone may already have leadership experience, especially freshmen. Please do not let this stop you from applying, as we will consider every applicant in terms of his or her capability. We expect you to learn a lot on the Administrative Board and to develop these skills for the future! You have just as good a chance of showing what you can do as anyone else.

The Application
The application is available in the KCSA Office or on-line at http://www.kcsa.uiuc.edu/. The application is due at 5PM of the due date by e-mail to the KCSA President (croloff2@illinois.edu). All applications must be typed, but you do not need to fill out a separate application for each position you hope to attain. You may run for as many positions as you would like to be considered for on KCSA’s Administrative Board, but can be elected to a maximum of one position.

The Interview (or, Don’t worry it isn’t that bad!)
We interview applicants to try to get to know them better and give them a chance to tell us about themselves. Interviews are conducted in order of department, so if you are applying for more than one position you may have multiple interviews. The whole interview will take about 10-15 minutes for an Administrative Board position. Executive Board position interviews are more open-ended and may last up to about 20 minutes. You will be notified about the results by phone either that evening or in the next two days. If you still have not been notified in three days, then e-mail the President (croloff2@uiuc.edu).
