OUTSIDE at the Research Park: Funkadesi, opening act Hathaways
Friday, July 17 at 7:30pm; opening act at 6:30pm
Krannert Center partners with Fox/Atkins Development, LLC, and the U of I Research Park to present another exciting three-show series of summer concerts in a welcoming, eco-friendly public venue featuring tempting food and beverage options from Biaggi’s Restaurant. First up is the eclectic stew of East Indian raga, a bit of reggae, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and contemporary grooves that form the perfect recipe for a joyfully vibrant world music experience from five-time Chicago Music Award winner Funkadesi. This group is sure to start the series off with a high-energy punch—even fellow Chicagoan President Obama recently noted, “There’s a lot of funk in that desi!”

KCSA Turnover Meeting and Ice Cream Social Tomorrow!
Just reminding everyone of our turnover meeting and ice cream social on reading day (this Thursday).
Then hopefully we'll move to the ampitheater (though rain is predicted). If it's not good weather, we'll stay inside, no worries. So turnover meeting from 2-3pm, where we'll teach each other our new positions. Then starting at 3pm is ice cream! General members are welcome too. See you all then!

KCSA Tours Training!
Some important info for those not yet trained in tours:
Monday 5/4, Steve and Hanin will be training all FOH staff for tours The KCSA board for next year should also come to this training, which will be from 8 to 10 pm. All adboard members are required to be trained as tour guides, so if you are at all available, please come. It's much easier for our tours directors if they can train people en masse. Thanks a bunch all!

T Minus 10:Forty and Forward!
All members of the media and general public are welcome at the 5pm Krannert Center 40th Anniversary Celebration, T Minus 10: Forty and Forward. Details follow, photographers and television crews are asked to check in with Bridget Lee-Calfas, Public Information Director. T Minus 10: Forty and Forward
Henning Schröder, alto saxophone
Phil Doyle, tenor saxophone and The Phil Doyle Quartet featuring John Dietemeyer, drums; Kurt Shwietz, bass; and Ben Dockery, piano
You were with us on Opening Night (and some of you joined us on our very first Opening Night in 1969), and now kick back as we celebrate a little bit of our past, toast our fantastic present, and look ahead as we prepare to launch into our tantalizing future. Groove to the jazz of Phil Doyle and refresh with the new classical mix from Henning Schröder as you let loose of the week’s stress, mingle, savor some light appetizers, and browse through some mementoes of our 40-years-and-counting history. We’d love to hear your stories about Krannert Center—or just see your beaming faces. Bring your colleagues, bring your siblings, bring your neighbors, or just bring your energy to our easy-going, free-flowing, season-ending festivities.
