University YMCA (1001 S. Wright St.)
March 25
7-8 pm

On February 17, 2008, the Serbian Southern province of Kosovo declared
independence from the Republic of Serbia and proclaimed itself the new
Republic of Kosovo. The declaration has sparked both violent protest
and international debate over the new state's legitimacy.

Recently returned from 7 months of fieldwork in the region of Kosovo
and Albania, Eda Derhemi will share insights on the current situation
as well as the state and causes of the conflict.

Suggested topics and questions may be submitted in advance by emailing
